Duet 16

The Duet 16 is a double kayak which both the bow and stern paddler share one large cockpit. The concept behind this design is to make a more compact tandem kayak that can allow one paddler to fish or take photos while the other maintains course. This kayak offers many features of a canoe, with larger cockpit space, but more stability than a canoe due to its draft being lower and the paddler position being lower.

The Duet 16 is a 4 panel hull with a wider beam for a more stable kayak in slower moving conditions. The kayak is still equipped with a bow and stern sealed hatches, but the large center cockpit allows for leg room and comfort.

The bow seat of the cockpit is centrally located, so this kayak can be paddled solo while maintaining its stability and manoeuvrability. This kayak has plenty of carry capacity, 425 pounds, which makes it capable of touring and recreational paddling.

This kayak has a long straight waterline of 185 inches, which makes it track very easily. This kit can also have a rudder or skeg added for very windy and wavy coastal conditions, however, for most paddling this is not a requirement.
