Quick Build 14

The Quick Build 14 is a 2 panel, 1 chine ultra light touring and performance kayak. The estimated build time is 50-60 hours, and the over all weight is 30 pounds. The Quick Build is 14 feet long with 1.5 inches of rocker, making it agile and good for tracking. There is a contoured deck and seat for the most comfort and volume in the cockpit.

We have developed an assembly process to make the build as easy and fast as possible, without affecting performance, durability of capability. The assembly time is so fast because the hull panels are ladder offset to help with alignment. We have also made tabbed permanent bulkheads to simplify the hull and deck reinforcement. The deck is a two panel construction, with a curved peak, which creates lots of space for the paddler in the cockpit. The bow and stern are sealed hatches, which is ideal for wavy and windy conditions. Below the waterline we graphite coat the hull so that it is scratch and impact resistant.

This kit is offered without external fibreglassing, which makes the hull lighter and adding fibreglass cloth. If the builder intends to paddle the kayak in coastal rocky environments, fibreglass can be added to the kit for $300. If you require this accommodation please contact Timber Boatworks upon purchase.
